Buhoma Community Rest Camp (Budget )
Buhoma Community Rest Camp is situated right next to the Bwindi Impenetrable Forest National Park Headquarters, so it is very convenient for gorilla trekking.
The bandas are built on the hillside overlooking the forest, and the grounds are lovely. The accommodation is either in bandas (little huts) or permanent tents, and some of these have an ensuite bathroom and toilet, and a balcony with a beautiful view of the forest. This is basic accommodation but clean, simple and very comfortable. You get tents with attached bathrooms. Five of them are right next to the jungle. Gorillas occasionally come to visit in the middle of the night.
The places are supplied with flashlights, candles and bug spray. Solar/ electricity runs from 7 PM to 7 AM. There are no electrical plugs in the room but the office can charge batteries for you.
Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner is served with two or some time three options for lunch and dinner. They can also pack lunch/ sandwiches for gorilla trekking. The staff are very friendly and the food is lovely.
There are several leveled terraces for those with their own equipment to camp. There is a picnic banda in which to sit, socialise, relax and eat as well as a reception building that houses a bar and dining room.
Buhoma Community Rest Camp is one of the favorite places that in Bwindi gorilla park. It is also a great place to just relax and listen to the birds sing. Money earned from this camp goes back into the community to fund the local hospital, school and other projects, which is another aspect of this accommodation that everyone would like.
