Lifetime Experience Safaris cannot guarantee that your stay at an accommodation facility will be 100% satisfactory. We can only go on the experience of our guests and their comments and personal visits. When we recommend a lodging facility it is because many of our customers have spoken or written favorably of this facility. We recommended that you do not have to base expectations on the experience of your country where "everything is available". Try being flexible and have a better understanding of your lodging choice, let the differences be part of your African Adventure. You will be enjoyably surprised by the quality of service you will receive.
If you are looking to stay at a nice and simple place, great location with magnificent views, Lacam lodge in Mbale near Sipi Falls has it all. It is great value for money. It’s beautifully located right at the edge of the cliff and has the most amazing views of the valley. The Lodge is also near to Mount Elgon National Park, 5 hours northeast of Uganda's capital Kampala. Sipi Falls is a series of four unique waterfalls culminating in the 100 metre magical Sipi Falls.
The Staff is super friendly and very helpful in arranging all things in the park including guides for hiking. You don't need to be a professional but it's good to be in a reasonably good shape if you do the longer hikes. The hike is very rewarding. You definitely have to do the waterfall tour and they will always be willing to help. If you have time, you might also want to do a tour to a local Arabic coffee farm,...not far from the lodge.
Nights are very cold compared to the other parts of the country, be sure to bring things to keep you warm during bedtime...you may need some socks..
Walks to the waterfall and the rest of the area are slippery and steep.
Comfortable Bandas/rooms with private showers. – Hot water is provided in the morning and late afternoon, no electricity the place is pleasant. Kerosene lamps are provided to bedroom and bathroom. Head torch or flash light is needed as these may not be bright enough and can’t go out. – Compost toilets. The rooms are simply basic but nice and clean.
By Car - From Kampala, drive through Jinja to Mbale. Take the Soroti Road and after about 5 minutes drive turn right towards Kapchorwa. Follow the paved road past Sironko. After 30 minutes from Mbale town, the road turns right and starts climbing the hill for about 15 minutes. You reach Sipi Trading Centre. Go through the trading centre and after about 300m, turn left at the Sign for Lacam Lodge just past the police post.
