We can only go on the experience of our guests and their comments and personal visits.  When we recommend a lodging facility it is because many of our customers have spoken or written favorably of this facility. We recommended that you do not have to base expectations on the experience of your country where "everything is available". Try being flexible and have a better understanding of your lodging choice, let the differences be part of your African Adventure. You will be enjoyably surprised by the quality of service you will receive.

Fort Murchison Lodge - Murchison Falls Nationaal Park Accommodation

This is a lovely location and setting on the Eastern banks of the Albert Nile. Fort Murchison revokes the idea of a well maintained isolated outpost from times where Arab traders frequented the African hinterlands and legendary explorers led expeditions in search of the source of the Nile.

Fort Murchison Lodge - Murchison Falls National Park lodging and accommodation choicesFort Murchison is a very different Safari lodge in that it combines some of Uganda’s historic past with the present. The "Fort" itself is a Moroccan Kasbah style building, with a great rooftop terrace. The ruins of the old Fort Wadelai are only 30 kilomitere from the new Fort Murchison and Fort Murchison have been built in the spirit of historic places such as Fort Wedelai or even Fort Dufile further down the Nile but there is the where it ends since Fort Murchison gives you the look of the old combined with the comfort of a quality lodging facility at a most moderate price that has always missed at Murchison Falls national park.

Fort Murchison offers a variety of comfortable accommodations to suit all budgets from the mid to better budget market. Nice rooms, comfortable thatched tents and great value.

Fort Murchison is situated in the former Aswa Lolim Game reserve, just outside the northern park boundaries of Murchison Falls National Park. It is set in a beautiful surrounding and looks out on the majestic Albert Nile. The lodge has 12 en-suite rooms that are furnished with comfortable beds, bathrooms with hot water from its Eco-friendly solar water heaters. The rooms give you the best African comfort blending in the style of the Swahili culture resulting in one of the best lodging facilities owned by Nature Lodges and in the traditional Nature lodges philosophy. You will love the location, right next to the park for game drives and a spectacular view of the Nile whilst sitting outside the lodge.

Fort Murchison Lodge - tented accommodation, ugandaThe tents are clean and surprisingly roomy, great beds and pillows, bedside light, mosquito nets over the beds, towels and additional socket for charging stuff, but still with tents do not expect much other than that. The shared bathroom facilities are very nice with really good showers and toilets, located about 20 second walk from all tents., no hot water but you may not need it as water comes out naturally at a perfect warm temperature.

The dining area is lovely, food and service are equally excellent, 4 courses dinners, superb presentation, exquisite flavours, great standard and breakfast is incredible. Staff are so helpful! But highlights of this place are the unusual refreshing fruit welcome juices and home-baked bread.

Fort Murchison Lodge is well worth considering as a base for game drives around Murchison falls national park, boat trips on the Nile and to visit the Murchison falls. Its good being on this side of the park as you don't have to deal with the ferry but It is a bit of a drive if you do want to go to actual "falls".

FYI, The location is good for safari drive (the animals are North of the Nile) but makes that more difficult to get-in / out (e.g. if you plan to go to Fort Portal (for chimp or gorilla tracking) the day after, you are adding at least 2/3 hours of driving to a very long journey.
